Forfar Bridie Booth
Forfar Bridie booth in action

Each fall, the 42nd operates the Forfar Bridie booth at Lafayette's Feast of the Hunter's Moon. The forfar bridie booth is always a top-selling food item at the Feast, and the 42nd is proud to be involved with the Feast not only as part of the programming, but as a food vendor.

The forfar bridie booth is one of the major fundraisers for the 42nd, and can't happen without a good deal of volunteer effort. If you enjoy the Feast, the music of the pipes, fifes and drums, or just like forfar bridies, please consider volunteering. Your time will help fund the 42nd's Scottish cultural programming! In return for volunteering, you will receive a button good for admission the entire weekend of the Feast!

The 2019 Feast of the Hunter's Moon will be held October 5-6.

To volunteer for a shift, register online at Signup Genius or contact us at feast@42ndRHR.org or (765) 563-3827.

A bridie is a savory meat pie The filling is made of minced steak, butter, and beef suet seasoned with salt and pepper, and sometimes with an addition of minced onions. The filling is placed on rolled-out pastry dough which is then folded into a semi-circular or triangular shape and the edges crimped before it is baked in the oven.

J M Barrie, the author of Peter Pan, was born in Kirriemuir in Forfarshire and wrote about Forfar Bridies!

Our bridies come from Chicago, IL, courtesy of Winston's Sausage.
